Every Sunday at 9 am, my phone tells me how much time, on average, I was looking at it over the preceding week. Every week, that number hovers somewhere between two and three hours per day. PER DAY! – and I am told that I am below average.
The world moves really fast these days. As we enter the deep of winter this year, perhaps we might find a way to move differently through our days. Consider the following excerpt from a meditation on winter by Greta Crosby*:
The clarity and brilliance of the winter sky delight.
The loom of fog softens edges, lulls the eyes and ears of the quiet,
Awakens by risk the unquiet.
A low dark sky can snow, emblem of individuality, liberality, and aggregate power.

The fact is that we NEED to slow down from time to time, to process what is going on, to take a step back and understand the stories we find ourselves in. What better time to do that than winter, the meditative season for peace and renewal?
