2020 Annual Fund Drive
While 2020 hasn’t been the year anybody expected, we are thankful for the opportunities we have had to share jazz. These experiences are made possible only by your generous support.
We partnered with two local restaurants, Rubicon and THEA, to sponsor live jazz for a few evenings of outdoor dining. Justin Bowden, a member of our Youth Band, joined us at THEA and says...
Listening to Steve Meashey and Jimmy Wood play at THEA was a great experience. I totally enjoyed the performance and the venue. Events like these encourage and inspire me to be the best artist I can be!
In collaboration with Gretna Music and Robin-Banks Entertainment, with support from Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg, we welcomed the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet with Wynton Marsalis for a surprise concert, planned and executed in less than two weeks. Chris Carvell of Faulkner Subaru says…
When [office manager] Sheila Ross called to let us know that CPFJ had the opportunity to bring Wynton Marsalis to Mount Gretna, we knew that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sheila didn’t ask for any financial assistance, but we felt that it was important for us to support CPFJ to ensure that the event did not create a financial burden. WOW! The staff and volunteers of CPFJ put together an amazing event in just two weeks!
Perhaps most significantly, we have worked with WITF on a series of videos and radio broadcasts that shine the spotlight on the history of jazz in this region. The first episode, featuring Jimmy Wood & Ronnie Waters, is ready for you to enjoy!
Stay tuned for the remaining episodes, including the next with Steve Rudolph & Cathy Chemi.
As shocking as it was for a global pandemic to shutter the world in our first year leading the Friends of Jazz, it was even more amazing to witness the support our community continued to show. Your ongoing loyalty is a clear expression of the value this community places on the arts. On behalf of our audiences, viewers, and members, we couldn’t be more grateful.
This year, we have set the ambitious goal to raise $10,000 in our annual fund drive. Our board of directors has generously committed to making lead gifts towards that goal. Will you join them with a gift of your own?
Thank you for your support of Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz.
