Jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, and Harrisburg music legend, Ronnie Waters, has been in the forefront of the Central Pennsylvania jazz scene since the 1950’s. After graduating from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Waters joined the Army and served as dance band director of the 427th Army Band in Europe. After returning from Europe, he led his own Quintet and worked with Marge and the Majors. Since 1983, Waters has organized and conducted the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz Youth Band. He is a member of the CPFJ Hall of Fame and has been a wonderful mentor to hundreds of aspiring jazz musicians.

On Monday evening, December 28th, 2015, the Central PA Friends of Jazz hosted a tribute to Ron.  We highlighted Ron's dedication to the preservation of jazz through education of our young musicians and his long career as one of this area's outstanding musicians.  In his honor, CPFJ introduced a new educational grant - The Ron Waters Jazz Scholarship - that will be given annually to deserving area students.  This event was so successful that we now host it every year.

We hope that you will contribute to this scholarship fund and be a part of this legacy - any amount is greatly appreciated..
